Following on from the results below, Pug1off re-tested the 4903106 profile on another car just to check the results.
This time the engine already had a 'Piper' Inlet only camshaft and made 178bhp on RS Tuning's rolling road.
After the initial test the cams were replaced with a pair of 4903106 Catcams and remapped to suit.
The final results are 193bhp with gains from 2000rpm over the previous setup!
The owner reports this has transformed the way the car drives.
With 167 bhp from the factory and an entertaining, capable chassis, the Peugeot 306 GTi-6 and
Rallye models have acquired something of a cult status as great all round fast road and trackday hot hatches.
But even the best can be improved upon, which is where leading high performance valvetrain
specialist Cat Cams NV comes in, with its 4903106 profiles. A direct replacement for the
comparatively mild standard factory XU10J4RS cams, the full technical specification of the

Back to back dyno testing on Northampton Motorsport’s dyno by Peugeot specialist Pug1off has
shown (when used in conjunction with a suitable ECU remap) that the Cat Cams 4903106 profiles
produce exceptional power gains, in this case 26 bhp.
Crucially, both power and torque are improved throughout the rev range, with a 17 lb.ft peak torque
increase and 10-12 lb.ft extra at 4500 rpm, making this an ideal fast road upgrade.
During testing the peak power increased to 181 bhp at 7500 rpm, with over 175 bhp available from 6100 – 8000 rpm.
(NOTE: The stock car seemed down on power, producing 155 bhp but this could be as a result of the 145,000 mileage.)
As a result of the Cat Cams / Pug1off ECU remap package, peak torque increased to 150 lb.ft on the high mileage test car.

Belgian based performance valvetrain specialist Cat Cams is delighted to launch a new pair of ‘Sport’ profiles for the late model Citroen C2 VTS,
running the 125 bhp 1.6-litre, 16-valve DOHC engine.
These VTS badged cars, produced between 2008 and 2009, use sharper cam profiles as standard compared to the 110 bhp VTR / GT versions
of the C2 and this specially enhanced version of the TU5JP4-S powerplant is identified by its alloy inlet manifold.
Following detail design studies and back to back dyno testing, Cat Cams have optimised a profile that both enhances mid range and top end performance,
while retaining a street friendly idle.

Ford’s 2.0-litre Duratec ST170 engine still has many fans, particularly for its ability to readily mate up to popular off the shelf rear wheel drive Ford transmissions.
Hence why Belgian performance valvetrain specialist Cat Cams is pleased to launch a new pair of profiles for track day or rally use, which are designed to work in
conjunction with either carburettors or independent throttle bodies.
Precision CNC ground from high quality, motorsport style steel billets, Cat Cam’s designers have leveraged their experience with BTCC and WTCC engines to
deliver a pair of profiles that deliver significant improvements in power and torque, while dispensing with the ST170’s variable valve timing (VVT) system, which
is superfluous for track day / motorsport use. However clever design work by Cat Cams allows the retention of the stock Ford front camshaft oil seals, which
normally fit around the Ford VVT drive sprockets.

The new Cat Cam’s 2301013 profiles are a direct swap for the original Ford items and are totally compatible with the standard ST170 mechanical valve gear.
And they really deliver, as recent dyno testing at Sussex based Devil Developments proved, when a Caterham running a standard ST170 motor with the
Cat Cams 2301013 profiles and 45mm throttle bodies produced an impressive 207 bhp @ 6800 rpm, allied to 177 lb.ft of torque at 5500 rpm.
The spread of torque produced by the Cat Cams is equally notable, with over 160lb.ft available from 3700 rpm to 6700 rpm, highlighting the driveable nature of the profile.

It may not have caught the public’s imagination in the same way as the revered 205 GTi, but Peugeot’s 206 GTi seems to attract a loyal following, mainly because of their affordable pricing, availability and potential for modifications.
But with just 137 bhp on tap from its 1997cc EW10J4 engine, few would deny that the 1125 kilo 206 needs added urge to help it live up to the expectations of a GTi badge.
That said, the biggest problem with upgrading the 206 GTi at present is that there’s a huge gap in the engine tuning market between an affordable remap and an expensive, noisy and uneconomical independent throttle body conversion – something that Cat Cams is seeking to try and fill, with its ‘Sport’ fast road cam profiles for the EW10J4 motor.
Designed as a profile for everyday driving in all conditions, the Cat Cams ‘Sport’ cams – part number 4901613 - are produced with modest increases in valve lift and duration, in order to strike the right balance between driveability and performance. Cat Cams has also placed a great emphasis on ensuring that the standard road friendly idle characteristics are maintained.

Standard 206 GTi
A straight swap for the original equipment 206 GTi camshafts, the Cat Cams 4901613 profiles are CNC ground from fresh castings and are directly compatible with the standard Peugeot hydraulic followers.
Dyno testing has proven that in conjunction with an ECU remap (or piggyback ECU) to optimise the air / fuel ratio, the Cat Cams 4901613 profiles deliver a peak power increase of up to 23 bhp at just 5500 rpm.
Combined with the retention of the 206 GTi’s much praised low speed torque, the Cat Cams profiles greatly extend the cars usable power band, making the Peugeot not only noticeably quicker, but considerably more user friendly as well. Peak torque increases by up to 24 lb.ft up to 165 lb.ft, with over 150lb. ft available from 3750 to 5500 rpm, making the cams ideal for relaxed, rapid, fast road use.
And this extra performance is designed to be accessible to all Peugeot 206 GTi fans, so the Cat Cams 4901613 profiles are priced at just £475.87 including VAT @ 17.5%. For further information and sales advice please contact Cat Cams UK or your nearest Cat Cams dealer.
NOTE: These profiles also suit the 2.0-litre EW10J4 powered Citroën Xsara and C4, plus the Peugeot 206 CC, 206 GT and the 307 Sport.
An alternative pair of ‘Sport’ profiles, designed for the track day market and carrying part number 4901614 is also under development. They will be launched into the UK market in the next 2-3 months, featuring extra lift and duration on the inlet cam for increased top end power.
Cat Cams unveils bespoke profiles for 2.0 ‘Silvertop’ Zetec turbo engines
New bespoke cam profile designed for Zetec aftermarket turbo conversions
Designed to maximise performance for forced aspiration use
Shorter exhaust duration to improve turbo spool up
Carries part number 2290114
CNC machined from top quality chilled casting
Directly compatible with original Zetec hydraulic followers
Dyno proven to transform midrange torque and driveability.
Developed in conjunction with Devil Developments
Turbo charging has long been a favoured route for tuners with the 2.0-litre ‘Silvertop’ Ford Zetec engine, as it delivers potentially large power gains as relatively low cost.
However one of the problems of bolting a turbo onto an engine originally designed as a normally aspirated unit is that the original camshafts are optimised for a standard non-turbo motor. Conversely, turbo engines have different cam timing requirements, so if the original cams are retained, ultimate performance will be compromised.
And the Ford Zetec is no exception, so, responding to demand, Belgian based performance valvetrain specialist Cat Cams has produced a set of profiles specifically designed for Zetec turbo use, tested in conjunction with Devil Developments of Littlehampton, Sussex.
Carrying part number 2290114, the profiles are designed with higher lift than the standard Zetec profiles and with greater duration on the inlet profile. On the exhaust side, the duration is reduced slightly to aid turbo spool up, greatly increasing response and mid-range torque.
Technical details on the Cat Cams Ford Zetec turbo profiles are as follows:-

Turbo, fast road
A like for like swap with the standard camshafts, the Cat Cams Ford Zetec turbo profiles are directly compatible with the standard Ford hydraulic valve gear. Back to back dyno testing has shown an 11 bhp improvement in peak power, with gains of up to 25 lb.ft of torque in the mid-range.
Priced at £428.85 including VAT @ 17.5%, the Cat Cams Ford Zetec turbo profiles are available now from Cat Cams UK.
As can be seen from the graph below. The mid range torque has been transformed. On the run with the new cams the boost pressure had dropped to 7psi (from 9psi on the std cams). If the wastgate had been tweaked to restore the boost pressure we would have expected to see approx 270bhp.
On the final run, with 14PSI of boost, the engine made just under 350bhp. Thats 100bhp more than when it arrived and the owner is very pleased with the results.

BMW’s legendary small block six cylinder M20 engine is renowned for its strength and tuneability, so despite being out of production since 1994, demand for performance parts remains strong.
Which is why Belgian cam manufacturer Cat Cams has responded to market demands and launched a brand new ‘drop in’ performance cam profile for the 2-valve BMW M20 six cylinder engine, designed specifically for aftermarket turbocharger applications with all available capacity formats, from 2.0 to 2.7-litres.
Cat Cams has pioneered the use of high lift / short duration designs throughout motorsport, including the BTCC, European Rallycross and Moto GP. In this particular instance the requirements of an aftermarket turbocharger conversion mean that Cat Cams has focussed efforts on developing a profile that promotes rapid turbo spool up, hence the exhaust duration and lift are reduced in comparison to the four other profiles in Cat’s BMW M20 cams range.

Belgian performance camshaft manufacturer Cat Cams is delighted to announce the launch of a new fast road ‘Sport’ cam profile for the popular RenaultSport Clio 197.
Developing a cam profile for the Clio 197 F4R 830 engine is something of a challenge because the valve to piston clearance is minimal, limiting the extra amount of lift available to extract additional performance.
Designed using unique, in-house developed software, the end result of Cat Cams work is a pair of mild negative radius ‘Sport’ profiles manufactured from bespoke, hollow steel billets and CNC ground to ensure accuracy.
These ‘Sport’ profiles are a direct replacement for the original units as well as being compatible with the Renault factory hydraulic followers and variable valve timing system. Ideally suited to Clio 197 engines using the stock ECU and inlet plenum, Cat Cam’s ‘Sport’ profiles retain decent idle quality and the driveability needed for fast road use.
Cat Cams has also incorporated an adjustable cam position sensor ring on the inlet camshaft, enabling easy timing adjustment without having to alter the cambelt position.
Initial dyno results show that Cat Cams Sport profiles produce a minimum of 5 bhp and 5lb.ft of torque, running in conjunction with the factory inlet and ECU.
The new Clio 197 ‘Sport’ cams carry the part number 5504402 and are available now, priced at £686.06 + Vat and delivery. For motorsport users five additional rally, rallycross and race profiles have been launched at the same time.

Belgain based Cat Cams, is delighted to launch a brand new range of performance camshaft kits designed for the popular SOHC Ford Pinto engine, in capacities from 1.3 to 2.0-litres. Cat Cam’s new Pinto kits are comprehensive, including Balinit C® coated cam followers and NASCAR quality PAC valve springs (where required.)
Although the Pinto engine design dates back to the 1960’s, through the application of 21stcentury cam design techniques and state of the art coatings technology, Cat Cams is confident that its new cam kit range can deliver an unrivalled spread of torque, combined with excellent top end power and superb reliability.
Eleven profiles are available, from a mild fast road grind to all out race cams, sharing the same design principles of high lift and short duration that have been successfully proven throughout motorsport, including the BTCC, European Rallycross and Moto GP. Forced induction fans will also be pleased to hear that a bespoke Pinto turbo profile is also part of the new range, running a bespoke exhaust profile to help ensure rapid turbo spool up.
Each Cat Cam Pinto profile is CNC ground from a high quality chilled cast iron blank to ensure accuracy and consistency. Similarly, the design of Cat’s Pinto cam follower is true to the original Ford blueprints, enabling Cat Cams to produce new followers that are checked on a computer controlled coordinate measuring machine to ensure the valve geometry is correct.
Crucially Cat Cams has overcome the traditional Pinto cam wear problem thanks to the application of a state of the art Oerlikon Balzer Balinit C® friction reducing coating (see attached graph) to the cam followers supplied with the kit. Balinit C’s® anti scuff properties mean that even Pinto engines running full race cams simply don’t wear out – this was proven in British short oval racing in 2008.
Due to the efficiency variations of inlet and exhaust systems Cat Cam’s policy is not to quote performance gains, but increases of 8-10% in power and torque are typical for ‘drop in’ fast road profiles, with much higher gains from the motorsport specific grinds which require other modifications to ensure compatibility.

Cat Cams Pinto cam kits also include a Truelock alloy cam pulley. Cat Cam’s True Lock adjustable cam pulleys offer a number of advantages over the traditional ‘vernier’ style items offered by rival companies. Primarily they are vastly more user friendly and accurate than traditional vernier pulleys. That’s because while rival designs rely on a sliding vernier scale to indicate how much cam advance or retard has been dialled in, the True Lock pulleys use a unique, fool proof and considerably easier ‘pin and hole’ system.
The system is simple in operation – the face of the True Lock pulley features a series of drilled holes representing one degree of cam advance or retard. Users simply have to undo the securing bolts, then rotate the two parts of the pulley until the supplied alignment pin slides into the desired hole. The pulley is then bolted back together, the locking pin is removed and the user can be confident that the cam timing is set accurately, without the need to align hard to see vernier scales. And with plus or minus ten degrees of advance and retard available, there is plenty of scope for serious adjustment.
Lightweight, compact and highly tuneable, Ford’s first ‘world’ engine, the I4 Duratec, has already found plenty of fans in both 2.0 and 2.3-litre formats, particularly here in the UK, where the Duratec finds a home in the 150bhp Fiesta ST150 and the 160bhp Mazda MX-5.
Pleasingly the I4 Duratec responds very well to cam swaps, partly because the Mazda designed engine enjoys large ports and valves compared to most modern engines. And it’s this tendency that Belgian based Cat Cams can exploit for those seeking extra power and torque from their I4 Duratec engine for rally, rally cross and race applications, with its new range of motorsport profiles.
Cat Cams has pioneered the use of high lift / short duration profiles, enabling engines to produce an unmatchable spread of torque with excellent power characteristics, whatever the discipline. Indeed such is Cat Cams success with motorsport I4 Duratec profiles, they are used in Marcus Gronholm’s fearsome turbocharged European Rallycross Fiesta ST, which develops 552 horsepower and 600lb.ft of torque!

Cat Cams has pioneered the use of high lift / short duration designs, enabling engines to produce an unmatchable spread of torque with excellent power characteristics. Due to set up and engine specification variations Cat Cam’s policy is not to quote performance gains but increases of 8-10% in both power and torque are typical. Two new profiles have been launched, the 2290645 which is designed for use with the stock ECU and the 2290610, which is designed for a stand alone engine management installations, either with the original single plenum, or ITBs.
In both cases, Cat Cam’s Duratec ‘Sport’ profiles are CNC ground to ensure they match the original equipment cam’s base circle, meaning the new cams are directly compatible with the stock Ford mechanical valvetrain.

Vauxhall’s legendary C20XE 2.0-litre 16-v engine, also known as the ‘red top,’ is often the choice for tuning or transplant, into cars as diverse as Novas, Mantas and Mk1 Ford Escorts.
Hence why Belgian performance camshaft manufacturer Cat Cams has launched a full range of motorsport profiles for the evergreen C20XE engine, ranging from a rally profile that’s compatible with hydraulic tappets, to full race profiles designed for use with mechanical lifters.
Designed using unique, in-house developed software, Cat Cam’s C20XE profiles are manufactured from blank chilled iron castings and CNC ground to ensure accuracy. These profiles are available in gun drilled steel billet format on request.
Cat Cams has pioneered the use of high lift / short duration profiles, enabling engines to produce an unmatchable spread of torque with excellent power characteristics. The full part numbers and technical details of Cat Cam’s new C20XE motorsport cam profiles are thus:-
